De Ruyterkade – Amsterdam

De Ruyterkade runs along the south bank of the IJ, on the northern side of central station. From here, you can take a ferry to the other side of the water and visit the EYE film museum, for example. De Ruyterkade – Amsterdam city centre

De Ruyterkade is located on the northern side of Amsterdam Central Station. From here, you can walk straight into the station, which contains many shops. Or you can catch a ferry to the other side of the IJ. De Ruyterkade is named after Michiel Adriaenszoon de Ruyter (1607-1676), who lived on the street. De Ruyterkade is situated at the hub of a number of busy transport routes and fulfils an important public transport function.

De Ruyterkade is located in the centre of the city, close to public transport links. You can easily take a tram, bus, train or ferry to other districts in Amsterdam. But there’s also plenty to do in the vicinity of De Ruyterkade. The train station contains many shops and catering outlets. Canal tour boats can be found on the other side of the station, enabling you to see Amsterdam from the water.
